Welcome to the Park Side Café! We serve organic, locally sourced plant-based breakfast, lunch, and drinks in West Olympia, WA. Below we’ve compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions about our establishment to help you find what you’re looking for!
At the Park Side Cafe, our food is always made from organic, plant-based ingredients sourced as locally as possible. But one thing you won’t find here is a standard menu. Because we are working directly with local farmers to provide the freshest items available, dishes may change regularly depending on what is in season.
Our culinary focus is on plant-based comfort food so there will always be certain favorites available like breakfast burritos, pasta salads, savory hand pies, hearty soups, grain based dishes, green salads, sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, and so much more. The specific ingredients in these dishes and some of our more specialty items will rotate frequently though, even daily perhaps.
We also offer baked goods including pies, pastries, and cakes. And of course, a large selection of beverages including espresso drinks, teas, juices, and more! Our drip coffee and crafted espresso drinks are made with locally roasted Covabrelli coffee out of Tumwater, WA. It is certified organic, sustainable, and fair trade. Enjoy your coffee with the choice of organic milks: almond, soy or oat.
We also want to do our best to accommodate everyone who may have sensitivities to certain ingredients. So there will be a good selection of gluten free, nut free, and soy free options available. Food Allergy Disclaimer: While we offer gluten, soy and nut free options, we are not a gluten, nut and soy free kitchen. Cross-contamination could occur, and our cafe is unable to guarantee that any item can be completely free of allergens.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook for regular updates on what we’re offering including daily specials when they are available!
Some parking is available in the shared West Central Park Neighborhood Center (WCPNC) lot, located behind Phoebe’s Pastry Café on Division, which you can enter via 4th avenue. Public roadside parking is available as well along Cushing Street. We also provide one ADA accessible space directly next to the café building. In addition to parking, we very much encourage the use of public transportation. Our building is located directly on the Intercity Transit and Mason Transit bus lines and we also provide a covered bike lockup area for your convenience.
One of our goals at the Park Side Café is to work collaboratively with the other businesses at the WCPNC to create a green, walkable space that is focused on sustainable practices while serving the surrounding community. For this reason we have chosen not to provide an extensive amount of parking spaces in order to support this unified vision. We encourage our guests to explore alternative means of transportation as much as possible and help support us in this effort. Our employees also stand in support by using alternative transportation as much as possible to get to and from work.
We are currently open Tuesday through Sunday from 7am to 3pm.
We are exploring the possibility of extending our hours to include a dinner menu. We do not currently have a date set for when that will be available but we will announce it here on social media and our website when the time comes!
We will also be open in the evenings on select Saturdays this summer that correspond with the West Central Park summer concert series. Please refer to the park Facebook page or website at aparkforus.org for more information about their concert dates.
Seating is available downstairs on the main floor of the building, outside in the courtyard area, or on the third-floor rooftop dining area that is accessible via stairway.
When the building was planned, full ADA compliance was included as required by law. The main seating area inside the Café as well as outdoor seating on the ground floor are entirely accessible. The seasonal roof top dining area is not required by law to be accessible unless the building is 3 stories or more. Our building is two stories with an insufficient lot size for both an elevator and a set of stairs. In lieu of roof top seating, we have provided two outside accessible tables that include an open side for wheelchair access. We also have a fully ADA compliant rest room on the first floor.
A retail kitchen shop is planned for the second floor and scheduled to open by the end of October. The full shopping experience will be available online and downstairs in the café digitally. Items will be available for purchase from the upstairs shop via an online tablet and brought downstairs for anyone requiring it.
It is our sincere hope that guests will find all the benefits for food and comfort are provided for on the ground level. We’ve done our best with the space and resources we have to make all who visit feel welcomed. But please let us know if anything is lacking.
Due to the small size and deli style of our establishment, we do not take reservations. Our dining areas are first come first serve during the morning and daytime hours. We also offer compostable to-go options if you’re in a hurry or seating is full. Reservations may be available in the future for our dinner menu hours once we begin offering that service and we will let you know if that becomes available.
Although we do not have a completely allergen-free kitchen, we do offer many options for people with gluten, soy, and nut sensitivities. Allergen information is listed on individual items in our food display cases to make it easier for guests to see their options.
GF = Gluten Free
NF = Nut Free
SF = Soy Free
We do not offer catering currently. But it is something we are considering in the future!
Registered service animals are always allowed inside with their owner. However, due to the health code, we do not allow non-service animal pets anywhere inside the building, including on the rooftop. If you do bring your furry friend along with you, you are both welcome to enjoy your meal in our outdoor seating area on the ground floor or next door at the West Central Park. But please leave them outside while you order your food.
